The Participant Hub
A public-facing, schedule-driven survey engine serving high volumes of dog owners at precise timepoint milestones

Sustaining a nationwide study: from legacy Adobe ColdFusion 11 to an enterprise Lucee ecosystem.
// The brief
The Generation Pup initiative is not a single web portal; it is an interconnected ecosystem of mission-critical business applications:
Generation Pup by Dogs Trust represents the most ambitious, comprehensive study ever conducted into canine health, welfare, and behavior across a dogs full lifespan. To support thousands of participants submitting structured survey telemetry at strict six-month milestones, the platform required absolute data integrity, seamless administrative oversight, and zero operational downtime.
When Webtree assumed full technical stewardship of the project, we executed a comprehensive platform modernization strategy—transitioning the core engine from legacy Adobe ColdFusion 11 to a high-performance, open-source Lucee server architecture.
A public-facing, schedule-driven survey engine serving high volumes of dog owners at precise timepoint milestones
A bespoke, secure project management hub enabling researchers to monitor telemetry, validate data streams, and orchestrate communications.
A modern, secure gateway built by Webtree allowing participating veterinary practices across the UK to directly upload, index, and append official medical records to subject profiles.
We systematically decoupled the legacy CF11 codebase and migrated the production footprint to a hardened, open-source Lucee cluster—eliminating proprietary licensing overhead while significantly improving thread execution speeds.
We standardized the supporting admin systems, project management tools, and the new Vet Hub on modern ColdBox MVC architecture, establishing clean separation of concerns, robust API endpoints, and scalable code maintainability.
We architected and deployed the specialized Vet Hub, providing an intuitive, encrypted file-processing pipeline for veterinary professionals to attach complex clinical histories to central subject records.
“Webtree stepped into a complex, multi-application environment, executing a flawless runtime migration while expanding the platform's capabilities with dedicated, secure portals for nationwide veterinary research”
Complete, risk-mitigated transition from Adobe CF11 to enterprise Lucee Server.
Centralized management across four distinct application hubs operating on unified database structures.
Uninterrupted longitudinal data capture for thousands of subjects enrolled across the UK.
